But what if...?
Sometimes people get so worked up over the fear of whether something might happen.
But what if things dont work out as planned?
But what if they say no?
But what if I lose it all?
The key to dealing with that fear is simple. Answer the question.
By answering the question, you move from being at the mercy of the unknown, to reclaiming your agency in the situation by focusing on what you can control: your reaction to the situation.
Often, when I ask people what they feel when faced with a big decision, they groan.
Sometimes, you might run away from it. You just put off making a decision or completely ignore the need to make one.
When you finally muster up the courage to face and think through the decision, you might be immediately overwhelmed by all the thoughts, feelings, and uncertainties involved. It's the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night.
Sound familiar? If so, here's the first thing you should do to put your mind at peace:
Write that stuff down.
What are your choices?
What is attractive about each choice?
What concerns you?
What are possible choices you aren't willing to entertain? Why?
What don't you know?
Getting all those thoughts out of your head and onto paper is the best way to stop yourself from thinking in circles.
Stay tuned for more tips on how to then digest what you write down so that you can achieve clarity on the best way to move forward.
